First Meeting Recap

Daisy Troop # 20159 has now entered the building!!!  It was a pleasure meeting all of our Daisy  friends yesterday!  We had a great time getting to know each other and finding out just what our favorite animals and colors are.  We started to talk about our journey together, and we learned how the flower characters will help us learn the Promise and Law:
On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
T help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

Our Daisy Troop learned the Girl Scout Sign when they say the Girl Scout Promise.  They traced and decorated their hand and cut it out and pasted it to the colorful Girl Scout Promise.  We will continue to practice this at the beginning of each meeting.  Wonderful job girls!  You earned your first Daisy Patch!

We started to create our own mini-garden!  Each Daisy took a turn planting their choice of Cilantro, Basil, or Thyme... AND even some herbs that were unfamiliar!  It will be very interesting to see what sprouts up!  Victoria and I took home the tray after our last meeting.  We will bring it back in for all the girls to see.   If it would be okay, we would like to have each Daisy (we'll pick a girls name from a gardening hat…) participate in taking care of our mini-garden.  Would you mind picking it up when it is your daughter's turn and returning to us a little early just before our next meeting gets out?  This way each Daisy will experience "sharing and caring" for our mini garden!  If this is a concern for anyone please let us know.
Daisy Mini-Garden!

Our Troop Daisies received their personalized Daisy gift--Welcome To The Daisy Flower Garden!  It is a colorful enriched book that we hope your daughter will love.  We encourage our girls to do the activities leading up to Chapter 1 (pg. 9, 11, & 13).  I think you will find that they are lovely stories, and the activities require minimal supervision.  We are looking forward to sharing our pictures with the others for our Daisy Circle during our next meeting.  This is a great way to get to know each other and add some delightful flavor to our troop!

NEXT MEETING:
Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 19th.
FYI, Heather will be away that week so we would like to know if anyone is interested in temporarily subbing in for that day?  I will provide the snacks and activities if you could just help guide our troop along it would be very much appreciated.  Anyone who is interested please let me know ASAP:-)  Again my email is: beccalynn722@yahoo.com

MEETINGS:
Our meetings will be held the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month after AVS students are dismissed from school at 3:20pm.  Troop leaders will meet Daisy Troop girls in the cafeteria and bring them to the designated room in AVS.

The meeting will end at 5pm.  Parents can meet us in the front lobby of the school and we will bring the girls to you at that time.

Please write a note giving your daughter permission to stay after for our GS meetings.  Your daughter's teacher should know what days she will be staying after for our Girl Scout meetings to avoid any confusion.   (Please see dates below.)  One permission note is okay to use throughout the year.  Heather and I will also send teachers a list of dates and the names of the girls that will be participating in our meetings to ensure the safety of each Daisy:-)

November 5th will be our first meeting! Yeahhh!!  Subsequent meetings are as follows:

UNIFORMS:
We would like the girls to come to each meeting wearing their daisy tunic to add to the spirit of Girl Scouts! The cost for the tunic, petals, flag, pins, etc. will be sent out via email.  We recommend going to the local Girl Scout store located in Bedford.  However, if you prefer you can go online too.

Each parent is asked to help their daughter with assembling the uniforms with pins and patches.  We will include a picture so that you can see where each patch goes.  Please let us know if you have any questions and we would be happy to help.

1. Honest and fair,
2. Friendly and helpful,
3. Considerate and caring,
4. Courageous and strong, and
5. Responsible for what I say and do,
and to
6. Respect myself and others,
